Happiness is a choice. No one can deprive you of your happiness, success, and satisfaction. I always think about what the secret to real happiness is. Is it about being rich, famed, having all the luxuries in life or taking charge of your life in your hands? We all work tirelessly to achieve our goals, get promotions, and earn more and more money. While moving up the ladder of success, somehow, many among us forget to enjoy life and live it to the fullest. We forget to be happy now we live and focus on the uncertain future.

Over the years, I have realized that we are mistaken if we associate happiness with financial stability. Isabel Allende’s words resonate in my mind while I am writing to describe the science of happiness for you to create your personal roadmap to a happier and more fulfilling life.

Her saying triggered me to find what real happiness is, and is there any one-size fit roadmap to it? Like many others, I was correlating success and happiness for far too long. Now I understand that success is getting what you want for yourself, and happiness is wanting what you get for yourself. Let your happiness determine your success instead of relying on your success to be happy. And from that day onward, I have reinvented myself and happily embraced the change. Now I celebrate every moment of my life and lead a happier and more grateful life of being empowered than ever before.

Here is my roadmap to be happier and create a truly worthwhile life in 2023.

  1. My first and foremost step is to be good and to do good.
  2. Live each day in such a way that when I go to bed at night, I can sleep with a clear conscience.
  3. Eat a well-balanced diet comprising fruits, vegetables, lean protein, low-fat dairy products and whole grains to fulfil my body’s requirements for optimal energy.
  4. Overcome my sugary cravings to ensure optimal physical and mental health because a healthy mind resides in a healthy body.
  5. Get good sleep because sleep deprivation can negatively affect mood, work efficiency, energy levels, and motivation while triggering many physical and mental health issues.
  6. Accompany good people to learn new things and radiate positivity that excites happiness, satisfaction, and success.
  7. Maintain a balance between work and personal life to spend quality moments with friends and family.
  8. Take time for regular exercise, yoga or other meditation activities to keep myself fit and healthy.
  9. Indulge in my favorite sports activities to feel more satisfied, happier, and lighter.
  10. Avoid too much alcohol, caffeine, tea or fizzy drinks.
  11. Lastly, pursuing a hobby that I enjoy the most. I love cooking, journaling, and guiding people about adopting healthy eating habits to unlock more excellent health and vitality for them. My hobbies give me not only happiness but also the satisfaction of contributing well to the life of others.

Dear friends, to fulfil your potential for happiness, you have to pursue it at every level. My roadmap fits everyone because it is simple, crisp and easy to follow. You can make your life a masterpiece because it is what you make it.
